Â鶹´«Ã½ University to Announce Naming of Theater During April 23 Campus/Community Celebration

Apr 18, 2025

Â鶹´«Ã½ University will celebrate the announcement of a new name for its state-of-the-art movie theater on Wednesday, April 23, at 1:30 p.m. on the first floor of the Student Center at 1810 Magnolia Street, Orangeburg, S.C.  The celebration will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, unveiling of the signage bearing the theater's new name, complimentary popcorn, soft drinks, and a ceremonial cake.

Admission is free and open to the public. Dr. Dwaun J. Warmack, president of Â鶹´«Ã½ University, and Tim Johnson, director of the student center, will be among the featured speakers.

The theater's grand opening was held on March 23, 2024, with the showing of "Ghostbusters." It is the only movie theater in Orangeburg, and its weekly schedule of new releases and first-run movies begins Thursday through Sunday.  The theater, which is housed inside Â鶹´«Ã½'s 80,000-square-foot student center, offers stadium-style seating with 172 cozy high-back rockers, Dolby surround sound, and futuristic laser projection on a visually captivating 30-foot screen.

Food options for moviegoers include affordably priced popcorn, fountain drinks, assorted candies, and other concession treats. A food court is located adjacent to the theater.

The theater is a “cashless environment” and all payments require a credit or debit card. Reserved or general admission seats can be purchased online at Fandango.com and movie schedules and showtimes are listed on claflin.edu.  Organizations and groups can also reserve the theater for special events and movie screenings.
