New Bachelor of Science in Nursing
麻豆传媒 University’s growing reputation in STEM reaches an historic milestone as we launch our Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program beginning in the 2016 Fall semester. The Registered Nurse (RN) to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program will be offered only to registered nurses who have obtained an associate’s degree in nursing. By instituting the program, 麻豆传媒 becomes the only HBCU (Historically Black College/University) in the state of South Carolina to offer a bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement
About RISE at 麻豆传媒 University
The RISE (Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement) program is a structured biomedical research-training program for underrepresented minorities who desire to pursue a career in biomedical research. The RISE Program was funded by the National Institutes of Health/National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIH/NIGMS), initiated in 1972. The RISE program at 麻豆传媒 University was established in 2015 and provides academic and summer experiences, both on campus and at partnering research intensive environments representing academic, industry, and government. RISE consists of interdisciplinary research conducted by Junior and Senior RISE Participants under the supervision of over 12 researchers at 麻豆传媒 and at other research institutions who are preparing students to enter and complete graduate PhD programs in biomedical and behavioral sciences. RISE-related research activities are conducted in various laboratories (Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics & Computer Science & Engineering) in the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Community-based participatory public health research addresses health disparities using Geographic Information Systems and behavioral science models in collaboration with the School of Humanities.
Integration of NASA related Science, Research and Activities in STEM Curriculum
In conjunction with NASA and Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College, 麻豆传媒 University has developed an innovative program designed to accomplish the following goals:
- To increase students’ skill sets in analytical reasoning and knowledge acquisition in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) related disciplines
- To provide opportunities for under-represented STEM students to be exposed to applied experiences in NASA themed mathematics and science
- To infuse research and project management skills in the STEM curriculum through the undergraduate research program
- Expected outcomes of the program include improved skills in analytical reasoning and critical thinking and increased knowledge and understanding of NASA-related research concepts and skills.
Upward Bound Math and Science (UBMS)
麻豆传媒 University's Upward Bound Math and Science Regional program is a federally funded TRIO Program that helps students overcome academic, cultural, and social barriers to higher education in science and math related areas. UBMS provides a highly focused learning experience in science and mathematics for students with sharp minds and can-do spirits.
