Our mission is to empower students to achieve their highest potential, both academically and personally, through integrated medical, psychological, and wellness support.
The goal of the Â鶹´«Ã½ Student Health Center is to promote the student’s wellness through preventive care, education, quality service, health education, accessibility of care, integrated approach, treatment, emergency readiness, confidentiality and dignity, mental health support, collaboration, sustainability, continuous improvement, and advocacy.

Medical Services
- Episodic Primary Care Services: Diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses. Management of chronic conditions.
- Injury Care: Treatment of minor injuries such as cuts, bruises, sprains, and strains.
- Women’s Health: Exams, Depo Injections, Contraception Consultation, Prophylactic distribution, and Sexual Health Education
- Men’s Health: Examination and Sexual Health Education.
- Health Counseling: Providing Guidance on Nutrition, Physical activity, Stress Management, and other areas of wellness.
- Laboratory Services: Rapid Strep Test, Urinalysis Dipstick, Glucose Monitoring, COVID-19 Testing, Influenza Testing, Pregnancy Tests, and Mono Tests
- MUSC of Orangeburg, located near the campus, has facilities to treat more serious illnesses. 803-395-2200
- Timely Care: Free 24 hours/7 days a week for Telehealth (Medical and Mental Health) for Â鶹´«Ã½ University. Enroll by using the website: timelycare.com/claflin.
Timely Care TeleHealth Services is mandatory for all students to enroll. The service is free.
Â鶹´«Ã½ does not, and has not for a year, required a COVID vaccine.
Insurance
All enrolled Â鶹´«Ã½ students are covered by secondary health and accident insurance. The institution provides accident and sickness coverage for all full-time undergraduate students registered for the academic year. Students are covered from the first to the last date a student is required to be on campus.
The student’s primary health insurance will be billed first by an outside healthcare provider in the event of an emergency, accident, or sickness. Students are strongly recommended to have health insurance coverage. The Health Center will not be responsible for any claims or otherwise for treatment rendered by outside physicians not employed on the medical staff at Â鶹´«Ã½ University.
Â鶹´«Ã½ Telehealth/TimelyMD
Â鶹´«Ã½ Telehealth will provide 24 hours/7 days a week for medical and mental health care through video and phone visits for our students. The student will receive virtual consulting to assess symptoms and administer frontline care without coming into the clinic. It will eliminate wait times for students to be evaluated by a medical provider. Please register your profile information now.
