Student Health Services works to foster health and wellness in the campus community. Our mission is to provide high-quality, cost-effective health care to our students means you'll have access to health care from a board-certified medical team that provides evidence-based care. We seek to empower students to take control of their health through providing education about preventative health.

Medical Services

  • Analyzing, diagnosing and managing common, acute and chronic illnesses

  • The Regional Medical Center, which is located near the campus, has facilities to treat illnesses of a more serious nature

Timely Care TeleHealth Services is mandatory for all students to enroll.  The service is free. 

Reminder: Masks are mandatory and COVID-19 vaccination are required on this campus. 

Insurance

All enrolled Â鶹´«Ã½ students are covered by secondary health and accident insurance. The institution provides accident and sickness coverage for all full-time undergraduate students registered for the academic year. Students are covered from the first to the last date a student is required to be on campus.

The student’s primary health insurance will be billed first by an outside healthcare provider in the event of an emergency, accident, or sickness. Students are strongly recommended to have health insurance coverage. The Health Center will not be responsible for any claims or otherwise for treatment rendered by outside physicians not employed on the medical staff at Â鶹´«Ã½ University.


Â鶹´«Ã½ Telehealth/TimelyMD 

Â鶹´«Ã½ Telehealth will provide 24 hours/7 days a week for medical and mental health care through video and phone visits for our students.  The student will receive virtual consulting to assess symptoms and administer frontline care without coming into the clinic.  It will eliminate wait times for students to be evaluated by a medical provider.  Please register your profile information now.

FAQs about Health Services

  • Is there a student health fee?
    Â鶹´«Ã½ University does not charge a student health fee. Registered, full-time students are eligible to receive health care at the Student Health Center, including medical care for acute, ambulatory illnesses, minor injuries and counseling services. Services not covered, including medications and care provided outside of the Student Health Center, will be your financial responsibility.
  • I’m…feeling homesick…having difficulties sleeping…eating too much or too little…having trouble studying. What services can help me adjust to life at Â鶹´«Ã½?
    Â鶹´«Ã½’s Counseling and Academic Student Support Services provide assessments, short term counseling and outreach programming at no charge to full-time students. If you’re having difficulties in your process of transitioning, you can make an appointment to discuss the issues with a staff member.   • Can I keep my medicines in my room that I bring from home?
    Your medicines from home, either prescription drugs (provided from a pharmacist) with a specified quantity and dosage of the medication or over the counter drugs (medications that do not need a prescription) and can be purchased by anyone; can be kept in your room and taken by you as a responsible adult. For safety reasons, it is important to inform the healthcare provider at the Student Health Center about all of the medications and natural supplements that you are taking, regardless of whether you received these items in the United States or from your international home.
  • Do I really need the meningitis vaccine?
    Yes, the meningococcal disease is a potentially life-threatening bacterial infection of the bloodstream or meninges (a thin lining covering the brain and spinal cord). The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American College Health Association (ACHA) recommends vaccination to all incoming college freshman living in dormitories.
  • Does the Student Health Center offer allergy shots?

    Yes, allergy injections may be received at the Student Health Center when the physician is present only. Instructions from the allergist must specify the diagnosis (reason for shots), the type and concentration of the extract, the specific dose, injection schedule and any precautionary instructions. Expiration date required and student is expected to reorder and pay for their own medication. 

    Allergy injections are administered on Tuesday 1:30 p.m-3:30 p.m. and Wednesday 1:30 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

  • Can I get help from the Student Health Center after office hours?

    The Student Health Center is closed on weekends and holidays. If living in the dormitory notify your Residential Assistant/Manager or notify Campus Police at (803) 535-5444.

    TimelyCare Services is available 24 hours/7 days a week at no cost to the student. All students are required to enroll at . For students under the age of 18, please have your guardian on the line to assist you with enrollment. 

    If it is an emergency (life threatening, an illness or injury that could become worst if treatment is delayed) dial 911 or go to the nearest hospital (The Regional Medical Center).

  • What if I'm in too much pain to get to the Student Health Center?
    You can call Campus Police at (803) 535-5444 or the Student Health Center at (803) 535-5328 if you are unable to get there on your own. If you are in your dorm room, notify your Residential Assistant/Manager. Based on the level of pain and location, you may need to activate 911. TimelyCare Telehealth Services at may can guide you in your decision making after office hours. The services are free. 
  • I saw a doctor and now I have multiple bills. Shouldn't my insurance cover this?
    When you receive healthcare elsewhere, you will typically have to pay an initial fee to be seen and your insurance usually covers 50-80% of the remaining cost of your healthcare. You will be responsible for paying the difference, which may be charged to you in a series of bills.
