Âé¶¹´«Ã½ University to Participate in Midlands Gives Giving Campaign

Âé¶¹´«Ã½ University will participate in the third annual Midlands Gives campaign on Tuesday, May 3. The online giving campaign begins at midnight and will end at 11:59 p.m. The university is among 81 educational institutions and 381 nonprofits participating.
Hosted by Central Carolina Community Foundation, Midlands Gives is a 24-hour online
giving event that brings the region together as one community, raising money and awareness for local nonprofits in 11 Midlands counties, including Calhoun, Clarendon, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lee, Lexington, Newberry, Orangeburg, Richland, Saluda and Sumter. In 2015, this event raised $1.5 million to help 252 nonprofits.
The minimum donation is $20 which can be paid via credit or debit card. All donations are tax deductible. The University is asking a unique gift amount of $40 which represents Âé¶¹´«Ã½’s four academic schools; $80 for the eight Presidents in Âé¶¹´«Ã½’s history and $186.90 which represents 1869, the year the university was founded.
Âé¶¹´«Ã½ will participate in various match giving categories which are sponsored by area corporations. The Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Minute Match, sponsored by AFLAC, will be held 6 a.m. – 6:01a.m.; 12:00 p.m. – 12:01 p.m.; 5 p.m. – 5:01 p.m. Donations of exactly $100 will be matched by AFLAC up to $10,000 during the three time periods.
The first five organizations that raise 100 gifts will be awarded $1,000 during the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Red Eye Match sponsored by BB&T.
