Â鶹´«Ã½ University Concert Choir to Present ‘Messiah’ Dec. 1
Nov 24, 2015
Kick off the holidays with a live performance of George Frideric Handel’s “Messiah” performed by the Â鶹´«Ã½ University Concert Choir and members of Orangeburg area church choirs at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, at Stevenson Auditorium.
This special holiday presentation of “Messiah” is free and open to the public, but tickets are required for admission. The free tickets are available at Â鶹´«Ã½ University in the Cashiers Office in Tingley Memorial Hall, as well as at Orangeburg City Hall, the Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce and Century 21 The Moore Group.
“Messiah,” under the direction of Â鶹´«Ã½’s Dr. Isaiah McGee, was written more than 250 years ago, and is one of the best-known and most frequently performed choral works in Western music. It serves as an extended reflection on Jesus Christ as Messiah – journeying through the prophecies of His birth, life, death, resurrection and glorification in heaven.
The event is being sponsored by Â鶹´«Ã½ University, the Downtown Orangeburg Revitalization Association, the City of Orangeburg and Century 21 The Moore Group.
Stevenson Auditorium is at 979 Middleton Street in downtown Orangeburg.
