Â鶹´«Ã½ University Crowns Miss Homecoming 2014

Â鶹´«Ã½'s Isha Conteh HeadshotÂ鶹´«Ã½ University senior Isha Lundia Chanel Conteh was crowned Miss Homecoming 2014 during a ceremony on Sunday, November 16, 2014, in Ministers’ Hall.

The 21-year-old Conteh, a native of Bakersfield, Calif., is an English major and political science minor. She is on the Dean’s List and is a member of the Student Government Association, Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society, Alpha Mu Gamma Honor Society, Pre-Law Society and Gamma Chi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Conteh also serves as a writing consultant in Â鶹´«Ã½ University’s Writing Center and peer counselor mentor to freshmen in Student Support Services. In addition, she serves the community through volunteering at sites such as the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Conteh, the oldest of six children, is the daughter of Nichole Diliza. Her grandparents are Lundia Washington, Beatrice Shareef, Dr. Gardner Hobbs and the late Gladys Hobbs.

After graduation, Conteh plans to enroll in a joint degree program to obtain her juris doctorate and Master of Business Administration with a concentration in international law.

Conteh’s life motto is, “If you live long enough, you’ll make mistakes. But if you learn from them, pull! Be a better person. It’s how you handle adversity, not how it affects you. The main thing is never quit, never quit, never quit!”
