Among them was junior art major Mia Ulmer, whose pastel drawing, titled “Picasso,” was awarded first place in the amateur drawing category. It was selected from among thousands of entries submitted from across South Carolina.
Also receiving honors in the competition was Jasmyne Wall, a senior art major who placed third in the amateur mixed media category for her work, “Smile.”
Selected to have their art included in the competition were junior art majors Kevin Tyler and Nastaija Partee. Â鶹´«Ã½ University Art Department Chair Alvin Staley’s submission was also selected for the competition in the professional division.
This is the first time these students have entered this highly competitive statewide art competition. The Â鶹´«Ã½ University Art Department last entered in 2003.
