Dr. Emily M. Crawford DBA, PhD
Dr. Crawford has over 36 years of experience in higher education, administration, leadership, and instruction.
Biography
Dr. Emily M. Crawford has more than 36 years of teaching on the college level, including South Carolina State University, Savannah State University and Strayer University. Also, Dr. Crawford has several years of industry experience with General Electric in Rockville, Md in sales. Dr. Crawford was also a business consultant for the Small Business Association in South Carolina and Savannah’s Entrepreneur Center, Savannah, Ga. She has been Dean of Graduate Studies at Savannah State University, where she was responsible for the growth and retention of five programs: Masters in Business Administration, Masters in Public Administration, Masters of Urban Studies and Planning and Master of Science in Marine Biology. Dr. Crawford is a recipient of several outstanding teaching awards, which include: Who’s Who Among American Teachers, Master Teacher Award-Marketing Management Association, Living Legend Award, College of Business Teacher of the Year for three consecutive years and Ernest L. Boyer International Award for Innovative Excellence in Teaching and Learning. Her online marketing course has been featured in the ELIXTR Module for Exemplary Teaching Practices as related to service learning online. Dr. Crawford has trained several faculty only the “Pedagogy of Online Teaching” and has published numerous articles ranging from children’s advertising to mentoring of junior faculty.
Dr. Crawford is the co-producer of Comcast’s Cable-Television of McIntosh County, producing videos featuring various community activities in McIntosh and the surrounding counties. She is married to Rev. J. Jacobs Sanders, pastor of Grant Chapel Presbyterian Church in Darien, Ga., where she is the director of music and video production; they have two children, Makis and Yakub. Her hobbies are cycling, photography and restoring picture frames.
